When To Diet?

When is the best time to start the diet?

At Xmas I eat to excess saying that I will be 3 or 4 stone lighter the next Xmas starting from New Year.
But when the New Year hits and I am still only 20% of the way through the chocolate, I realise my diet will have to be postponed and so I am forced to set my task of starting in February to give myself a full month of solid eating up all the junk in the house.

Then February hits and its miserable cold weather and early dark nights with nothing to do but have the odd meal out or takeaway to spark up your nights.

Then you realise another 4 weeks and its to be Easter and the Easter Bunny will visit you with glorious sugary candy and eggs, so you hang off until this date to start.

But then you get lots of eggs as they are all 3 for for the price of 2, and you go a bit nuts grabbing too many for one person to consume over a single day.

So then you decide that you will do the start of the diet in May when you have eaten all the excess chocolate eggs, but your challenged when you have a short break when the kids are off school for a week or two and all they want is days out, fast-food takeaway visits and barely enough time for you to iron the gym outfit, let alone use it.

So then you decide the dieting starts as soon as June hits when the kids are back into a routine at school and you can get back into eating healthy and going to the gym.

But with June hits a heatwave and you spend large quantities of time drinking even larger quantities of sugary or alcoholic drinks and collapsing in front of fans too hot to eat, ordering in takeaways or spending the evening in a beer garden eating pub cuisine.

This carries on for around 6 weeks or so and then you think "Well I am going away in August for the big family get-away and I am not going to diet for the couple of weeks before I go away and eat loads".... so you postpone the diet until September.

Then the kids go back to school and you finally knuckle down to dieting and going to the gym.

But after about 6 weeks of this your getting into the end of October time and having lost a few pounds in the past few weeks, your really pleased and think "It wont hurt just to have a bite to eat at Halloween when the the kids are trick or treating!" and soon the sweets and candy are being consumed, and then you just HAVE to eat a toffee apple and hot dog at Guy Fawkes Night.

So suddenly before you know it your into November and you dont have time to go to the Gym any more with only 6 or so weeks left to do all the Xmas shopping, and its so much easier to grab a McDonalds or Burger King when your heavily laden with carrier bags, than it is to just eat a nice healthy calorie free salad.

And then BANG........ you know its only 3 weeks left until Xmas, you are struggling to find those last 4 presents you need to buy and there is so much to do at this time of year, and you think.... "Well I might as well have a good Xmas and enjoy myself! I WILL START MY DIET AND THE GYM AFTER XMAS!!!!!!"

The cycle repeats all over again, only this time the 12 months seem that little bit shorter, and the motivation to diet that little bit harder to come by.

Question: When is the best time to start the diet?
Answer: There is never a "best" time to start the diet!
